In the top picture it shows rust in the break on the left side of what appears to be the remains of the flywheel. That would indicate a crack that has been propagating for a long time. The casting around the block also appears to have caked oil dirt residue. My guess is the tractor has a history of abuse, possibly loose or broken bolts holding hte two halves together. The flexing over time created a combination of several structural cracks that finally reached the breaking point. If neglect or abuse is the problem, it probably has other similar failures just waiting to happen. Best to scrap it for what few usable parts are left.
