When I was a kid growing up in eastern Nebraska, Dad had a IH 560 diesel that he always parked on a hill north of the house. He always coasted it to start it, as he was kinda cheap to buy new batteries. After using the tractor for something one day, he parked it on the hill for the night. The next morning, all you could see was the exhaust stack, as we got pounded with a spring snowstorm. We dug the tractor out one weekend, let all the snow melt off it, then Dad got new batteries for it. In addition, we planted a windbreak north of the house so we would not get snow drifts in the yard ever again.
