An area supplier told me last Friday that due to availability issues very little chemical was pre-sold prior to March. Also, pre-sold fertilizer was limited to what was in the shed and that is a tiny amount compared to their spring sales. However, I expect all kinds of stories that guys bought everything last fall and at prices that have not been seen for years. Also, no elevators are booking at the prices we saw last week. If they are booking the basis is incredibly wide. I also expect the docking hammer to come down HARD this fall when crops are delivered. All I know is I have been getting bad headaches just thinking about this year and all that can go wrong even though we have sky high prices for the moment. I'll have to get back to you on costs after I get home from church.
