4/7/1945 Interesting little vignette about the Mighty Yamato going down. By that stage in the war, after So many Japanese ships had been sunk, the American press hardly even reported it. The biggest battleship Ever was gone and all its sinking rated was a footnote.
By the way, the captain of light cruiser Yahagu - sunk along with Yamato that day was Tameichi Hara who survived the war. If you ever want to read a very good book by a fearless and wily commander read his 'Japanese Destroyer Captain'. It really makes you realize what tough, smart adversaries we were up against in that war.
