Those old elevators (woodhouse we called them) were incredibly tough. When they took the one down here in town, a CAT pulled out one entire lower side thinking it would topple over. It started to tip, then settled at an angle and stopped solid. They kept hitting it with a big track hoe on the uphill side and finally it went. Still took them days to tear it apart to haul off. There are a few around yet and, if the rot didn't get into the bottom layers of wood, still solid as the day they were built.
