Mix up some of whatever you want to use and spot spray some patches. You will find out what will kill it and then you can cover the flowers and not kill them. For the corn over bean question I would guess it has to do with the timing of the spraying. Corn would spray earlier than beans some places and might be the thing or maybe The difference in product. Like I sprayed some corn so I didn't have a carry over for alfalfa on one field.
