Tractors generally do not have a VIN number, but they all have a model number. Usually painted on the left and right sides of the sheet metal as shown in the attached picture. Would usually be a brass or aluminum tag attached to the tractor with the model number stamped on it. Model numbers such as D3006, D4006, D5006, D6006. Once you know the model number, order an operators manual (this site offers manuals). Most of these tractors could have one of several transmissions such as 8 forward and 4 reverse or 12 forward and 4 reverse. The manual or tractordata dot com will give you the horse power. Note that Deutz air cooled tractors of that era used the same engines with 2, 3, 4 or 6 cylinders and with or without turbos. Engine number F2L912 is just the two cylinder version of the F6L912. Should be an aluminum or brass tag attached to the side of the engine. Horse power may also be stamped on the engine tag as it was on this Deutz stationary engine.
