Hello Longbow welcome to YT! I suspect there was a little color confusion by 300jk but I might be wrong. John Deere also had a 4000 and 4630 model. The JD4630 had a 404 CID with a turbo and after cooler to make 150hp. So if the thinking was you were making a green to blue swap that would explain his comment. I am not sure how it went in the Ford camp but for a stock 95 hp JD 4020 the M&W Gear Company built a add on turbo kit for the diesel model of that tractor which was also 404CID. It depended how crazy they went with the smoke screw but it would really wake up that 6 cylinder. The same company also made a kit for the next smaller model the 3020 which was a 70hp tractor with a 270 CID 4cyl. diesel. In that case the turbo on the 4cyl. just did not seem to have the power increase in comparison with the one for the 6 cyl. model.

If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
