In 78 years our great grandchildren will be the same age we are now. Will any of our great grandchildren, great great grandchildren or great great great grandchildren still want to use it by then? I don't understand the fascination that something may not last long enough to serve three generations. Most buyers of new equipment need something that will pay for itself in a short period of time, resale or salvage value is secondary.
Back in 1944 the design life of tractors was to be obsolete in about ten years and worn out in 20 years. There is a tradeoff between durability and economy. If equipment could not pay for itself within ten years or more often within five years, it would not sell.
