I have owned three MF 124 balers and still have one that I use. I really like it. Those are called bowtie knotters and work differently from a NH or Deere. I have found the weak link to be the packer fingers that drag the hay into the bale chamber. I've busted two of them. I have one out back with bad packer fingers. I was going to pull the needles and knotters off and take the rest for scrap. Let me know if you want anything. BTW, there are two generations of the 124. Look at the serial number and see if it starts with 1474- or 2183-. One visual cue is the width of the cover over the plunger rod. The 1474 is narrow and 2183 full width of the bale chamber. I don't think you could go wrong with that one, even at 600.00.
