Something to consider.
As a driver, that big money sounds great at first. There are other things to consider, though. First thing is time away from home. This is not a good career for a family man. Sometimes gone for weeks at a time, sometimes home every night, and most of the time too worn out to take care of things at home. Next thing is food. consider that nearly every meal is restaurant food. A steady diet of restaurant food will do two things for you: make you fat and give you high blood pressure. Next thing is how you spend your money and how much you get to keep. A trucker ends up paying for everything he does out on the road. It costs you to eat, sleep, park, shower, do laundry, and the list goes on. These things that we take for granted in a house like having a washing machine, stove, refrigerator/freezer, and parking are all things that the trucker has to continually shell out for.
As a result of all of this, $100,000 on the road is worth maybe $40,000 in a local job because of road expenses and tax inflation. So, after all, is that really such good pay?

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
