Anyone not using a lead substitue with there 87 octane is taking a chance everytime the fire their tractor up. These antique machines were designed in the days of good old regular gas and were made to need it. The valves in these older tractors require lead for lubrication. If you take away almost all the lead guess what? Less lead, less lubrication. I learned this the hard way. Bought a tractor to restore. Ran good and thought only cosmetic work was needed. To my surprise the guy cut grass with it every week for 5 years with unleaded gas. I ended up with a stuck valve job. You can get lead substitue at your local Wal-Mart, or about anywhere that sells automotive supplies. I bought a new bottle this spring and it is still over half full. I paid like $4.99 for it and it traets 300 gallon. That's a lot of gas. In my opinion this is a small price to pay for insurance against a costly and time consuming valve job. Bill
