Awhile back I made some noise about this tractor I wanted out in Wisconsin. Thought I'd bid $2K as a grand gesture. Well, I didn't end up bidding even a buck, decided to keep an eye on it and see where the price went. One good thing about online sales: They give you plenty of time to come to your senses.
This tractor would have cost me around $5K by the time I got it home. I can do a lot of fixing up around here for that kind of money.
More than the final price, however, I was interested in how the bidding progressed. It held steady at around $975 for about 2 weeks. This morning it was still there, then by this afternoon, with two hours remaining, it was around $1300. Then in the span of about ten minutes it shot up to over $3000. The auction closing kept getting extended, the online version of "going once, going twice....." When I checked on it just now I found it had sold for the unusual price of $3202.50. Unusual because I don't see how they started bidding in increments of half-dollars.
I'll check out the local sale another YT-er made me aware of this fall. Much closer to home. $3202.50. Someone really wanted that little tractor. Gerrit
