glennster, here in NW SC we have some copperheads especially in the mountains. Also some big rattlesnakes. Saw one with 11 rattlers. I have had 3 snakes in my big shop doorway in the past 10 days or so. One was on a fly swatter handle. I reached for the swatter to kill a wasp and saw the snake and threw it down. I stepped on the snake and it struck at my boot. Reached for a hoe and it got under some stuff. It was a pygmy rattler and only the second one I have ever seen. I HATE snakes.
