I'd bet it's in the gearbox. Happened to one of ours once. Take the belt off and spin it up to speed to see if you still hear it. Those decks have no stump jumpers and the knife tip to shroud clearance is not tight. The only way a tip will hit at speed is if the shaft it's spinning on is loose. Could be a bearing on one of the shafts, likely the one that took the hit.
Those linch pins fall out regularly, especially if brushed up against a branch of a shrub. I always double cable tie ours in an X around the pin and ring to help prevent them opening. Gets expensive if repeated too often.
