Your subject line brought back an amusing local story about a fellow who had never been on a farm but, nevertheless, purchased a small sandy farm. He decided to have some poultry and a few hogs to get started and planted some field corn for them. So far, so good. He then decided to look around for a corn picker to harvest the corn. He spotted an auction notice where, among all the farm machinery listed, was a corn picker. He went to the auction and submitted a winning bid and went home with the machine. When he got it home he started looking it over and, for the life of him, could not figure out how it worked. He called one of his neighbors, a lifelong farmer, and asked him if he could come over and explain how this corn picker worked. Neighbor arrived and took one look at the machine and started to laugh. Turned out the guy had purchased a corn chopper, not a picker. A good laugh was had and the guy then proceeded to trade his chopper for a picker. Actually, it all worked out quite well.
