Hello BW welcome to YT! Unfortunately I am going to say this is bad news for you. It would seem to me something is coming apart in the left axle final drive a getting in between some of the gear teeth. Then luckily it has fallen back out when you back up. I admit this sounds somewhat unlikely because a loose piece would tend to fall to the bottom and stay there. Attached is a factory parts diagram. When it opens you will select Drive train, then click any one of the subsections, then find the preview box for 07-12. There you will see the final drives are planetary gears sets. Clicking on that will open the actual parts section. I would suggest not to use the tractor any more until you determine how extensive the problem is. Continuing to use it may very well continue to raise the price to repair it. I would suggest draining the oil out of the rear end and look for metal or metallic flakes in the oil. If you see this it is a sure thing that it has to be torn down to see what the problem is. If you have the ability to raise a rear wheel off the ground do this. Then block the opposite wheel an put the tractor in neutral, turn the wheel by hand and see if you can hear and grinding or clunking. Also get an 8 ft 2x4 and another short one to lay by the tire for a lever point and use the 8 ft one to pry under the tire to see if there is any up and down play between the axle flange and the housing. Much play there is bad news. Then jack the other wheel up and do the same to compare. A secondary affect of continuing to run the machine is that the hydraulic fluid and the rear end lube are the same. So even though there is a filter there is a possibility of moving the ground up metal in the hydraulic fluid into the hydraulic pump and system and then the problems can snowball. If you happen to be viewing this on a phone post back and let me know. I can put up some helpful hints for that.

Today's Featured Article - Talk of the Town: How to Remove a Broken Bolt - by Staff. Another neat discussion from the Tractor Talk Discussion Forum. The discussion started out with the following post: "I have an aluminum steering gear housing with a bolt broken off in it. The bolt is about a 3/8" x 1 1/2" bolt. I've already drilled the center of the bolt out with about 7/64" drill bit the entire length of the bolt. Only one end of the bolt is visible. I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
