I would do the following (assuming I needed the piston and were replacing the rings). Use PB Blaster or? to lube things up ATF is OK as well. The oil ring should have holes in it, use a small screw driver, and with the piston held in a V block made from soft wood, I would tap the ring apart at the closed gap by putting the blade is a hole, and tapping tangentially to open the gap, then keep going till it breaks. follow the broken parts around punching them out of the groove. On the solid ring, I would lay the screw driver tip on edge at one side of the gap and tap the up side of the blade to transfer a blow to the ring. driving it into the carbon buildup. keep at it all around to let the modest impact jar the ring loose. if it breaks fantastic.
