massey harris. model 50 steering frozen

I bought a M H 50 this past summer. I use the tractor as a utility tractor. plowing snow, running brush hog. as the weather got colder, I noticed that I was loosing the ability to turn right. as the temp decreased the problem got worse. I pulled the side cover from the steering box (on top of trans) to find that it had filled with water. now it turned to ice. about half way up. steering left was no trouble, but the ice stopped the arm from traveling down to allow the turn. In short, if your steering is less in winter, check for ice. I almost tried to force the steering wheel, but luckily, I did not. also I don't know what to fill this box with. any suggestions. .. not water is one.!!!
