George: Are you aware that Whirlpool purchased Maytag in April of 2006 and closed the Maytag plants? That gave Whirlpool the Maytag brand name which they now put on whatever products they want to. I do remember, back in 1965, purchasing a Maytag washing machine that lasted over 25 years and that wasn't unusual. The Maytag Repairman commercials of that day were spot on but the Maytag family departed the business and modern day management took over and you can see what happened. We've become a through away society. There are still reliable products out there. I've heard many times that Speed Queen is the most dependable washing machine----and, that's why I've been trying to convince you to buy a TOYOTA. (;>))
