The post below from wore out showing the Glasgow tractor brought back a few memories. In 2012 Ann and I was in Australia, in the town of Swan Hill in Victoria where they have a fantastic museum of agricultural machinery. They also have examples of three-wheel drive tractors of the early 20th century.
The Glasgow. The museum curator started it up for me and allowed me to have ago. He had found the tractor, upended in a scrap metal skip on its way to be broken up. It was in lovely original condition so he saved it for the museum. She runs lovely. They were built to be as near as possible in looks to the Fordson F and N of the day.
The second tractor in the collection is a Saunderson built near Bedford around 1912. This was not a popular tractor and had reliability issues which are spelled out very clearly in the Australian test report on show with the tractor. The later model G was a very successful tractor but the company suffered financial problems after WW1 and these were not helped by the introduction of the Fordson F and the depression in farming during the 1920's.
The Sendling-Benz from 1925 was one of the first diesel tractors built by the company and came complete with a steady wheel to prevent it toppling over. Not a very successful tractor and all of these soon disappeared from the market.
