When I was young, I'd get nervous if people were watching. I guess I had a fear that I'd mess up, and have an audience to see it when it happened. But, ... I had some jobs where there was always people around. I overcame the nervousness, and when that was over, I could kind of care less.
Nowadays, I suppose there are certain things that I'd rather do when nobody is around. Like putting an engine together when doing an overhaul. Things like that, that need a little extra concentration.
If I want to lose an audience, I usually slow things down to a crawl, about the pace of watching paint dry. Don't take long for people to get bored of that, and they disappear. If that don't work, I'll multi task by doing something else for awhile that they don't care to watch. The minute they are gone, I'll go back to doing what they wanted to watch me do.
If I had a mowing job that required being watched by somebody with a clip board and a stop watch, I think I'd have one less mowing job, and one more new one as soon as I could find a different one. That's not about being watched! That's about being supervised just to mow a stupid yard. I'd maybe wait to see what the complaints are going to be if any, but the way I see it, I don't need to mow a yard for an outfit that can waste time and money on ridiculousness. Might be thier way of weeding out people that don't work or slack off, but a random drive by to see if somebody is actually mowing the yard is about all that's necessary there. And they'd know that anyways without even seeing the action by just noting that it got mowed.
