Just shove a pipe that is close to the inside diameter of your shield now and as you heat the shield tap on the shield around the dent with it tight to the pipe it will take the dents out so it will slide. This will make it slide pretty well. Easier and cheaper than a new one. Se the pipe on a block with plenty of weight on the other end to hold it still. you can use the same method for the other half if the pipe will fit in the smaller half. If not you might be able to tap it with the shaft that is in there already. I've done the outside half that way before. Or with the shield all apart placed over the pipe then just use the pipe with a hammer to take the dents out like before just no heat on it.
