The 5.9 Cummins and 5.9 CDC are the same engine, don't know why Tractor Data shows the .004 smaller bore for the Cummins when all other sources show the 5.9 Cummins with the same 4.020 bore as the CDC engine
The 5.9 Cummins/CDC was a very adaptable engine in its design, changing out the timing gear case allowed the use of a number of different brands and styles of injection pumps, that along with numerous other inner changeable components made it one of the most widely used engines on the market.
Swapping out a few external components on a 5.9 used in a rear pusher shuttle bus allowed me to adapt that engine to fit in my F-450
I'm not saying it's the best engine for its size but that it was probably the most adaptable engine on the market and was used in a large number of applications
