Jim It has been over 15 years since I have had a WD but if my memory is correct I put the shift forks in the transmission in netrual, held the shift lever in the center and it went right back in. I am not at home so I don't have access to my manual. Try that and maybe some one more knowledegable will answer your question if that don't work.
