Wow, 160 I grew up on had 4 acres for an orchard of around 1-1/2 acres, barnyard big enough to turn semi's around in, two big barns, big corn crib, big 2-story farmhouse and a large yard and garden, machine shed, cattle yard and a hog lot, plus the concrete floored hog lot. The field right south of the buildings was of course 16 acres, with another 20 south of the 16, two 20's beside the 16&20, then two 40's, most years one or both 40's were split into two 20's. Farm now has 3-4 grain bins in what used to be the cattle yard. The chicken house in the orchard is gone, the hog house which was originally an early poor attempt at a farrow game house is gone, and a few other changes have been made. Biggest change was two 600 head capacity confinement hog houses have been built right south of the buildings, New BIG Deep Well to water 1200 head of hogs was drilled. Guy that lives there now feeds feeder pigs to market weight on contract to the meat packing company. A semi or two delivers all his hog feed, a local vet is contracted to visit at least once a week. Biggest year Dad ever had was 30-35 head of fat cattle and 800 head of hogs from farrow to finish. Was WAY to Darned much work!
