If your Cub clutch chatters when you release and engage it, there is a pretty good chance your release bearing is worn and not flat any more and also there is a chance the release fingers that the release fingers the release bearing pushes against may not all be the same distance from the clutch any more, due to wearing at different rates. It sure helped Daddys Cub to replace the bearing and adjust the fingers so they were the same distance from the flywheel.
In the manual there is a specification for the distance the release fingers are supposed to be from the flywheel. I had to make a special tool-basically a stick of wood with three bolts in it.The outer two bolt heads rest on the flywheel and the middle bolt is used to measure to the release finger.
