Recently purchased a good condition MF 255 with front end loader and working towards putting a third function out front.
First question is about spool valve matching to pump flow?? Tractor Data shows GPM of 10. Is an 11 GPM spool valve appropriate for this or should the spool have greater capacity. Is there matching that needs to be had between the spools and the pump for the long term good health of all?
Also, I am not understanding why the most often guidance is a diverter valve for 3rd function. There are 3 spool valves on the market with individual control and 3 spool with 2 on a joystick and the 3rd on a lever. Is it just for the convenience of one control?
The machine I bought has a joy stick but I actually prefer a lever for lift, a lever for curl, and then put the third spool on third function with couplers......call me silly, just my preference.
I just see the cost of each being relatively the same if not a little cheaper for 3 spools.
