I'm guessing from the picture that it was an automatic tie baler. I wonder how dependable they were?
My Dad told me stories of him and his brothers doing custom baling with an Oliver Ann Arbor baler. It was a block baler with hand tie. He said the customers wanted the bales heavy because that was cheaper. The Oliver did not have a problem producing 100 pound bales according to Dad's stories. They drug it up the hills with a Ford Ferguson or similar tractor. He said the baler was heavy enough that it slid the little tractor when going down hill.
