The lower screw on the advance plug is NOT a bleed screw, just a bolt to plug the advance gauge hole. The upper screw on the top cover can be bled after engine is running. The CRITICAL bleed screw is next to the pump name tag, there MUST be no air at that screw. If the silt got into the injection pump hydraulic head, it MAY have stuck the metering valve and/or the rotor plungers, and a complete tear down and cleaning is the only hope if pump is to work again. That's IF the rotor and head sleeve bore are not badly damaged already.
