I never had anything like that with my cultivators. That about side dressing, I never saw a side dresser so no idea how they were made but definatly not a part for the cultivator but possibly for the sudedressor. The first JD cultivators we had did not even have the quick tatch as it was not yet made. First one came out of a junk yard in 1957 for a 38 JD A and hand lift. And I remember the JD dealer saying the quick tatch 2 row cultivators keep them jumping as they coyld not get enough for the demand. But hp here in Ohio there were no side dressers on cultivators.. So what you described that piece to be did not make any sence to me. I turned 79 last fall and bought my first tractor in 1963 a 46 John Deere B for $220 at auction. Used it for years.
