I would never have one to dump every load on a pile to get farther and farther away from where you want to start storing then, possibly the end of elevatot to get them into barn. Wagons to get load to where you want to unload are too cheap for the hasel of getting multiple loads spread out a good distans from where you actually want to store the bales. Then have the chaf spread out every place to have to clean up after storing the bales. Only time I can see them workin is with crew to keep unloading then direct to truck in field where you do not worry about chalf build up as location for every load would be moved. Years ago hay buyer worked that way but have not seen any square bale hay buyers for years. When we put hay in barn elevator got set until barn was full and with them first load would not be far from end of elevator but you dump second load farther to carry then third load still farther to carry and fourth load still getting way to far to carry bale to get on elevator. Wagon you can pull full up to elevator and when empty pull the next full one up. And If you had shed room for wagons or a tarp you could get bales in dry if rain started and kept up for a solid week or more. and those bales dumped from the basket even if covered with tarp laying on ground would get wet. If you had enough help to keep all the hay up the elevator as being baled then could not have thar problem but who has that kind of help? Have not seen any bale baskets for years now, only were around for a couple of years then gone.

Today's Featured Article - A Question for Dads This recent topic from the Tractor Talk discussion board is being highlighted because it is an awesome display of the caliber of individuals that have made this site their own. The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
