Well one can upgrade a bit , the big thing holding back is the filter as it only can handle around 15 GPM. . back when they were built massive amounts of GPM and high Pressure was not in demand Yep deere ran a higher pressure and when something messed up in the Hyd system on a Deere lets just say things got interesting and lots of damage would happen . Like what happened to my Uncle , He went to the dark side while i was in Nam and all red gave way to all green due to seasonal help and needing simpler tractors . The old trusty 806 was traded for a 4020 Power shift the stolen 706 was replaced with a 3020 POWER SHIFT (dog) then came the 4320 then the 4520 , then the 4520 vanished one night and never seen again and here comes the 4630 , the night mare tractor with transmissin problems from day one then while deep ripping at the head land out by the road one of the help lifted the ripper made a hard left turn and stabbed the brake pedal when the whole back end of the rock shaft housing blew clean off the back and set the three point piston across the road and THREW the ft. of the new metal tater storage building . One of my old customers had a 3020 that whole on a side hill plowing stabbed the left brake pedal to stop wheel sping in the land side and the down hill side blew the left axle housing off , One min the left fender wheel and all were on the tractor then next it was GONE . Now today one needs 50 plus GPM and god only knows how many PSI . Ya look at todays hyd Excavators and we are talking 5000 Plus PSI and 100 or More GPM. And my flow rater can not go over 50 GPM and 5000 PSI Plus my test hoses don't even come close at 3400 PSI. . Remember when you thought that Oh wow i have dual remotes you were king of the hill. , now ya need three four on a chore tractor.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
