Maybe some of you northern cold loving people can educate a southerner. Past couple days people have posted pictures of trees covered in ice and calling it hoar frost. I look at these pictures and think that is not hoar frost that is rime ice. Then you mention fog and back up what I was thinking because (from what little I know) hoar frost is formed on a cold clear night. Frost formed from liquid floating in the air IE fog is called rime ice.
So is my thinking wrong or do you just generalize and call all frost hoar frost even though it may be rime ice.
