have u even checked to see if the engine turns over? i would check to make no valves are stuck first thing.remove plugs and squirt oil in each cylinder, then belt it to another tractor and let it wheel over for 15-20 minutes, get everything all lubed up and warmed then check the compression. checking compression dont amount to much on an engine sitting with dry cylinders.plus you will have bits of junk in the valve seats and ports and this will blow everything out. if you cant belt it up then just check compression after u lube the cylinders and crank it over with the starter. why would you tear it down first when you dont know what you have? make the decision after your trouble shoot. if compression is decent install the manifold and start it and go from there would be my plan.
