Most of these type of tractors have seats pretty far to the rear and while I prefer a hand clutch, foot clutches aren't a huge concern for me especially on a smaller engined tractor. Sure a flat seat isn't optimal but, with a ~150 cubic inch 4-cylinder engine should be too bad in most cases.
I do hope to test drive a W-4 or 6 somewhere sometime but, in the meantime I consider the risk of a "bad" experience pretty low relative to any of the major options out there that are similar.
Any of the "wide fronts" are a viable choices for me and, yes the steering effort will be higher but, I have gotten along fine with heavier John Deers too. A lot of this depends on technique for ease of use which is overlooked by many. The classic for me was manual steering in my car, many people would hop in and the first thing they would do is try to crank the wheel to back out; letting it roll a little makes that so much easier!
