It sounds like the tractor is in about the shape mine was when I bought it. You can spend a fortune fixing an old tractor. The case tractor I have has no brakes because it leaks hydraulic fluid into the transmission and then leaks out of the transmission onto the brakes. I tried cleaning the brake shoes and replace the seal in the transmission but it still leaks. Probably needs a complete overhaul on the transmission before I can have brakes. Anyway I don't have very much trouble driving it without brakes, it has the shuttle shift and I just shift it in reverse if I need to stop. Then the cylinders may not be just a matter of replacing seals and O rings. I replaced the seals in mine and while the arm cylinders work fine they still leak. New seals in the bucket cylinder didn't help at all, it will drop a load without constant attention. I need to have the cylinders professionally overhauled. I'm afraid to think of what that will cost.
