If the lighting system is working (bright dim), a simple solution is to change to LED bulbs. They use 12% of the current that original bulbs use. All resistors get hot when used near their rated watts, so heat is expected. If the lights are not working correctly, there may be a short circuit in the wiring causing the heat. If the terminals on the switch have age related corrosion they will heat. They must be shiny and new screws help as well. A coating ofnantioxidant applied also reduces corrosion in the future. Jim
