Ive owned a 3444 with 3141 hoe on it since 1987. My dad bought it from original owner. It has a BD154 Diesel engine. The machine listed at Zimmermans appears to be nearly identical, albeit an older model. We bought ours with a burnt exhaust valve, we had valve replaced and head checked and had to do nothing inside the engine since. I replaced the series glow plugs with parallel circuit glow plugs from Mercedes Benz, it makes a world of difference in starting. The weak point in the hoe is the splined shaft for the swing cylinders, ours was loose when we bought it and I have been afraid of stripping them since. Fortunately careful operation has kept them intact lol. (My dad trained me as an operator and had little tolerance for overloading/abusing machinery). A positive feature from my perspective is the direct drive transmission with clutch. Hydrostatic and torque converters scare the hell out of me on that old of a machine. The brakes are probably sketchy, our machine has small discs and are marginal at best. That machine weighs 9 to 10 thousand pounds and it takes all that I have to get the brakes to grab hold. Ive probably only put 3 to 4 thousand hours on it over the last 30 years but when Ive needed it, it has always run.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
