GRANT: I have a page here from a CMP (Canadian Motor Product) catalogue from back then that says the starter on MH44's should be a 4078. I can't find any Masseys on this list with a 4080 starter but some Googling shows the 4080 6F starter being used on the model 33's which came later. Maybe that's your problem? The starter 'drive' is listed and should be an SD37 according to my list here, maybe that is a Bendix drive number? Do some Googling and check eBay, etc.
