We have a 75 kw backup generator for our poultry operation
It automatically cycles once a week under load for 30 minutes, then transfers power back to line voltage and runs for an additional 5 minute cool down cycle before shutting down
The generator ran for 10 days straight in 2009 before power was restored
The 3 poultry barns are each computer controlled operating the heat, cooling and ventilation
16 years and no issue with the computers
We ve had two no start power failures, once a lug came loose in the automatic transfer switch resulting in only 120 bolts being supplied to the buildings
Second was a blown transformer only sending 120 volts to the main, transfer switch went to neutral due to voltage drop, but wouldn t fire up the generator because in was still read power coming from the line, manually engaged the switch to get the generator up and running
We have a small 5kw generator for the house
It won t power the electric range or electric furnace but with selective use of appliances we got by with no issues for tv or computer
