Could not be compressed with out expensive high tech compressors that use a lot of electricity vs what is required to compress LP into liquid .
LP tanks are simple and low cost .
Compressed natural gas tanks are heavy and expensive if made steel . Very expensive if manufactured from composites .
The most cost effective and flexible system is to burn nature gas in a Diesel engine with pilot ignition .
LP has a high octane but not as high as natural gas. Compression ratios of approx 12 to 1 . Pilot ignition with slap will work however the engine is challenging to start . These engines are usually a conversion with spark plugs .
