I have a few majors - all superb tractors. You shouldn't have any trouble with parts. Pretty much all equipment dealers in North America buy many of their parts through Sparex, which is an aftermarket tractor parts supplier. Sparex sells parts for almost all makes/models, but because they're British-based, they have oodles of parts for any British tractors and have pretty all the parts you could ever want for the majors. The closest dealer of any kind to me is a Deere dealer, but they bring in a Sparex order every few weeks so if I need some major parts I just get them to add them to their regular order.
All versions of the Majors were extremely popular. Worldwide parts support for them is far, far better than several other models that might seem more familiar to us North Americans. The only parts that are hard to come buy are ignition parts for the gas-powered E1A majors (still hasn't stopped me from buying and using three gas majors - probably my favourite tractors).
All versions of the majors are tough old girls - see this post where I talked about their ruggedness:

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
