I think he's talking about the DEF system, not the exhaust itself rotting out. Doesn't take but a chunk of pipe and a welder to make a straight pipe if that thing rots out.
The DEF systems can also be deleted if you are willing to learn what to do. You won't get a dealer or anyone professional to do it on the books, but why should that stop you?
