I strongly suggest renting a medium to large track skid steer with a closed cab, and with a 4in1 bucket and a brush cutter mower for the first time clearing. They will whack small trees up to 4 with ease, I got rid of a huge poison oak bush about 8' high a few years ago. The cab will also help when (not if) you discover a yellowjacket nest, you can evict them very efficiently. You can throttle it down and slow the machine when safety requires it, and you can remulch as necessary to grind the stuff up- and don't forget the closed cab! You will probably find plenty of treasure to clean up, rocks, concrete, engines, transmissions, the 4in1 bucket is your friend.
