50 days ago?? So this guys corn didn't get harvested until mid January? That'd be rather late in my neighborhood/area. Most are done by late October/early November. Guessing you just didn't put the math to it, when you put the words together. LOL.
People get together and do this in my area too. Often times putting thiers on hold, and doing someone elses like this first. Of course with a whole bunch of people pitching in, they can knock it out in a day or two most times. Leaving thier own operations for only a day or two, ussualy not that big of an absence from thier own operations. People ussually just get after it, and get it done.
I personally don't get in on these type engagements, because I don't have my own harvest equipment to furnish and throw at it. Have offered my time and labor a couple times to help the family out, but then something like this (in the photo) happens. Ussually as a suprize to the family, and a big right up in the news paper.
I'm ussually in a grain truck or combine come harvest time. Just not my own. I begin with driving trucks for my renter. And then go on to help 2 or 3 others during harvest.
