A couple more factoids about Plymouth County round barn. To fill the silo, there is a blower pipe that follows the inside of the roof up to the silo. The rafters are all laminated out of 1 X 4's bent to shape and nailed. The shingles are wood and soaked so you could bend them to the curved shape when applying. Around the skirt, they are actually double bent to accommodate unique geometry. It cost the fairboard half a fortune to shingle it the last time. As is true to form this has a manure trolley that follows around the curve. When it gets to the door, you have to change the switch to get the carriage to go outside. The same is true with the hay track for distributing the hay around the haymow. Also, on display is the set of tools the carpenter used in the day for building it. If you ever out this way the last of July and you like historic buildings, it is worth a stop to view it.
