Type F automatic trans fluid can be used in most ford and JD tractors for hydraulic fluid that were built before 1978/1980. Its also an approved atf fluid for many older automatic transmissions like the cruiseomatic, and also can be used in most all power steering systems. Type F was outlawed or removed from the market in 1978 due to the fact it had a viscosity improver from whale oil,,, that was banned world wide to save the whales. So after that a man made/synthetic viscosity improver had to be supplied going forwards. The alaskan/artic cold war drive in the late 50s and early 70s had finally discovered the world of synthetic oils that solve this problem. And jet engines also pushed this as well. It was a great hydraulic oil for wet brakes and wet clutches that controlled the anti friction additives. It was a 20 w oil with viscosity improver's added.
