When Ford introduced the NAA in late 52 with the overhead valve 134 engine that was later used in the 600/601 models, they also introduced the engine driven live hydraulic pump system
Live pto with the two stage clutch was first available on the 55 model 660 and 860 models with 5 spd transmission, this continued with the later 661/861 models and their row crop versions
Those are good older Ford tractors but power steering is a bit rare on those models
The 65/later 2000/3000 models with the 8 spd trans were available with live pto, but some 8 spd models did not have live pto so checking the model code is important on those models
IMO if you want to stay with a gas tractor look for a 600/800, 601/801 or early 63/64 2000/4000 with 5 spd and live pto
If your considering a diesel step up to the 65/later 2000/3000
A major step up in power along with independent pto and superior wet disc brakes while staying with the smaller profile is the 4000SU model. Same size as the 2000/3000 but better in every way
I will say the 4000 s independent pto is a bit harsh engaging but after 30 plus years using one I ve learned a few tricks to help soften the startup
