Bonnie wanted to learn to drive tractor, I thought raking hay was a good place to start. I gave e a choice of my 400D or my son's new Kubota.
I don't understand why anyone would pass the opportunity to drive a case tractor. I'm kinda questioning her judgement right now. Air-conditioning and radio seems like a poor excuse to me. Lol. She was pulling a case 281 rake, so there is that at least.
I sprayed some corn with the 400 in the morning.
The new 555 haybine works great too. Had to do a few things to get it going, but once that was done it woks good. The pitman arm was broke when I got it, that was from being run loose. I welded that back together.
Then I found the bearings out in the sickle pivot so it got those replaced. Then the drive belt was bad and I found the pivot for the tightener was worn so I built tt up so it runs straight. All the bearings in the idler pulleys were still good, but were rough, so they also got replaced. After all that it runs and works great.
I cut about 30 acres Saturday afternoon nd another 10 or so Sunday morning before a wheel bearing went out on the 830. Hope to bale that Wednesday.
Used the 400 on the sprayer this year.
It's so dry the only place weeds are going much is where sod was plowed and some thistle patches. Sure could use some rain this year, haven't had enough to settle the dust all year.
